Backgrounds is a fast, free wallpaper app with thousands of hand-reviewed HD
images — and a genuinely good way to find the one you want.
FIND SOMETHING YOU LOVE
• Thousands of high-resolution wallpapers, every one reviewed before it appears
• Browse 50+ categories: nature, space, minimalist, dark, city, abstract, cars,
animals, quotes, gradients and many more
• Browse by color — tap a swatch and see only wallpapers whose dominant color
matches, from deep blues to soft pastels
• Sort anything by Latest or Popular
• Search a huge stock photo library right inside the app
• Seasonal categories appear as the date approaches, so Christmas and Halloween
wallpapers show up when you actually want them — not in July
SAVE IT IN ONE TAP
Tap Save and the full-resolution image goes straight to your Photos library.
Apple doesn't allow any app to change your wallpaper directly, so Backgrounds
takes you the rest of the way: clear step-by-step instructions, plus a button
that jumps you straight to the right place in Settings.
A WALLPAPER THAT CHANGES BY ITSELF
Everything you save goes into a Backgrounds album in Photos. Point iOS Photo
Shuffle at that album (Settings > Wallpaper > Add New Wallpaper > Photo
Shuffle) and your Lock Screen rotates through your saved wallpapers on its own.
MAKE IT YOURS
• Tap the heart to keep wallpapers in your Favorites
• Add the Home Screen widget to see your most recent favorite at a glance —
just the image, nothing else
• Follows your system light and dark appearance automatically
• Looks right on every iPhone size, and loads the resolution your screen needs
FRESH CONTENT
• New wallpapers added regularly, including a brand-new quote wallpaper every
single day
• Every image is moderated before it goes live, and anything can be reported
from inside the app
SHARE YOUR OWN
Got a photo worth using as a wallpaper? Contribute it from inside the app. Add
your Instagram handle and you'll be credited when other people see it.
NO ACCOUNT NEEDED
• Completely free
