Track your dogs off-grid over LoRa mesh radio — no cell service required.
PawMesh connects to your LoRa mesh radio via Bluetooth and shows real-time GPS positions for up to 3 dogs on a USGS topographic map. Built for hunters, hikers, and anyone who lets their dogs run in the backcountry where cellular coverage doesn't exist.
No separate setup app needed. PawMesh handles all device configuration right in the app — pair your companion radio, set up each dog tracker, configure encrypted channels, and manage firmware settings. Just power on your radios and follow the guided setup.
Features
• Guided setup — configure your companion radio and dog trackers step by step
• Real-time dog positions on USGS topo maps
• Compass view with bearing and distance to each dog
• Offline map tiles — download regions before your trip
• Movement trail history
• Color-coded fix-age indicators (green / yellow / red)
• Encrypted private channel between your devices
• Background tracking — keeps working with the screen off
• One-tap ping to request an immediate position update
• Low-battery warnings for your companion radio and trackers
• Factory reset and reconfigure devices without leaving the app
How it works
Attach a small GPS tracker node to your dog's collar. Carry a companion radio (such as a Heltec V3) paired to your iPhone via Bluetooth. Open PawMesh, follow the setup wizard, and you're ready. Trackers broadcast GPS positions over LoRa every 2 minutes — several miles of range, even in dense terrain, with mesh hops extending it further.
Requirements
• iPhone running iOS 17 or later
• A LoRa radio running the open-source Meshtastic® firmware as a companion node
• One or more GPS-capable tracker nodes (also running stock Meshtastic® firmware)
