The tanpura drone, traditional drum beats, and sound of the jalra has a very rich history in India that dates back thousands of years. The mridangam drum used in the app is the main percussion (drum) instrument in South India. The tanpura drone sustains the melody of a singer or instrumentalist by providing a continuos harmony in Shruti of any musical key in music. The jalra provides a metronome, so the singer (with or without harmonium) and musician, can keep to the beat via the loop provided. The swarmandal plays an audio melody to the raag that the musician is singing or playing.
The comibation of instruments provided in Mridangam Studio makes beautiful real and rich sounds of Carnatic music which are very useful to singers, or any musician, music producer, or student who wishes to dive deep in the soulful bliss of Carnatic and classical music of India.
Whether you are a singer, musician or Carnatic instrumentalist (such as a harmonium, violin, veena, mandolin or flute player), you can play the loops and rhythmic beats of the Mridangam drum provided as accompaniment when you practice.
