Open Grindr 10 times a day? You're not alone. Groundr is a system-level blocker built for gay men reclaiming their time from compulsive Grindr habits.
Real blocking. Daily check-ins. CBT-grounded tools to handle what comes up when the urge hits.
— WHY GROUNDR WORKS —
Most screen-time apps just count minutes. Groundr understands why you open the app in the first place: loneliness, boredom, validation, late-night anxiety.
The urge hits, and an hour vanishes. Groundr interrupts that pattern at the source — blocking access at the system level using iOS Family Controls, while giving you healthier ways to handle what comes up.
— REAL APP BLOCKING —
Groundr uses iOS Family Controls to block Grindr (or any other distracting app you choose) directly on your device. This is not a timer you can ignore. Set rules that fit your life:
· Full blocking for total detox periods
· Scheduled blocking (e.g., 10pm to 7am for better sleep)
· Time limits (e.g., max 30 minutes per day)
· Multiple rules with custom day selection
· Quick setups: Weekend Detox, Evening Focus, Work Mode
— DAILY CHECK-INS & JOURNAL —
Track how you feel each day. Log your mood, identify your triggers, and notice patterns over time. Your private journal is a space to reflect honestly. No judgment, just clarity.
Understanding your triggers is the first step to changing your habits.
— STREAKS & PROGRESS —
Watch your progress grow. Track consecutive days, earn XP, level up, and unlock badges for milestones like your first week, first month, and beyond. Streak recovery means one slip does not erase your progress. Your journey is not a straight line, and Groundr knows that.
— WHEN URGES HIT —
Groundr meets you in the moment with tools that actually help:
· Guided breathing exercises to calm the impulse
· Alternative activity suggestions (call a friend, go for a walk, stretch)
· Your personal reasons for quitting, right when you need them
· Motivational reminders on your terms
— TRACK YOUR PROGRESS —
See your full picture with detailed statistics:
· Calendar view with daily summaries
· Monthly progress and pattern analysis
· Trigger tracking to spot your vulnerable moments
· Blocking and resistance stats
— BUILT FOR YOUR LIFE —
· Motivational notifications to keep you on track
· Available in English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese
· Calming sanctuary-inspired design
· Your data stays private, always
— WHO GROUNDR IS FOR —
Groundr is for gay men, queer men, and compulsive Grindr users ready to change their relationship with the app. Whether you want to quit completely or just set healthier limits, Groundr gives you the structure, the tools, and the encouragement to actually do it. No shame. No lectures. Just real support from an app that gets it.
This is not about giving up connection. It is about finding it in places that actually make you feel good.
