About

Every shoot starts with the same two questions: what am I taking, and did it all come back? EasyGear is the answer to both, on the phone that's in your pocket when you pack. PHOTOGRAPH IT ONCE Point the camera at each thing you own. EasyGear lifts it off the background and files it with what you paid. Or search the built-in catalog of cameras, lenses, lights and audio and add it in two taps. Or search B&H without leaving the app: tap the product, tap Add, and the name, the brand, the model number, the price and the picture come off the page. You end up with a gear list that has a picture of everything, a total of what you've spent, and a knolling card of any kit you can post. How cool is that? PACK A SHOOT Make a shoot: the kits, the place, the hours. EasyGear builds the pack list grouped by case, the way you actually pack, and you say how many come along: two batteries owned, one packed. It adds what the day calls for — rain covers when the forecast says rain, spare batteries for a nine-hour day, sandbags when it's windy, lavs when there's talent. The night before, one notification: what's still unpacked. SHOT LIST List the shots for the day: a line each, a reference frame if you have one, the lens or the slider it needs — which goes on the pack list by itself. On set, tap a shot when you have it and it drops to Done. Pick frames in Photos and name each one as it comes. The shots you didn't get follow the shoot to its next date, and the list prints to a PDF with the pictures on it. WRAP At the end of the day, flip to Wrap. What hasn't come back is on top. Note where you last saw it. Nothing gets left on the roof. ASK THE DP Send one link. The DP, director or producer ticks what they want from your kit in Safari, no app needed, and their picks come back as your pack list. Need a PDF of the list for the producer? One tap. THE REST • Kits: Interview, Gimbal, Product studio — named sets you reuse. • Lent out: who has what, when it's due, and a nudge that writes the message for you. • Year in gear: how many shoots, the item that went on all of them, the one that never left the shelf. • Syncs between your iPhones through your own iCloud. Turn it off if you'd rather not. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS No accounts, no analytics, no server behind the app. Weather and place search go to Apple. Syncing is your own iCloud. The gear link carries the list inside itself, and the page that shows it stores nothing. THE LIMITS, PLAINLY • iPhone only for now. • The catalog covers common film and photo gear, not everything; anything can be added by hand, by photo, or from the shop. • Adding from a shop needs that shop to publish product details in the page, which the big ones do and small ones sometimes don't. The shop's picture stays with the item until you photograph the real thing. • Lifting gear off the background needs a real photo; a dark lens on a dark case is harder than a camera on a table. You can keep the plain photo instead. • Weather needs a place on the shoot and works up to nine days out. Made by a working filmmaker who left a wireless receiver on a rooftop in Bangkok and decided that was the last time.
