Chess with a world to walk through. Explore the valley of Val Casella, meet its people, and take on twelve rivals — each one playing chess the way a real person does.
RIVALS, NOT ROBOTS
Forget the difficulty slider. Every opponent in Chess Lore is a character with their own personality at the board:
• Their own openings and favourite plans
• A style you can learn to read — and exploit
• Human mistakes: they blunder like people do, not like a machine set to "easy"
Beat them by understanding them, not by grinding levels.
A CHESS ADVENTURE
Wander hand-crafted pixel-art villages, chat with the locals, earn your florins, join the chess school, and fight your way into the tournament that decides everything. Your choices shape the story — and the valley remembers what you do.
A VALLEY FULL OF STORIES
• Eight hand-crafted locations: villages, cosy interiors, mountain paths, a ferry across the water
• Dialogue with real choices and characters who react to your victories
• A rating that grows with you, and rivals calibrated around it
REAL CHESS UNDERNEATH
Full chess rules and a proper engine power every game. Learn openings, tactics and endgames the natural way: by playing opponents who actually differ from each other.
MADE TO BE PLAYED ANYWHERE
• Fully offline — the whole valley in your pocket
• No ads
• In English and Italian
• Original soundtrack and cosy retro pixel art
Whether you're just learning the moves or you've worn out three chess sets, Val Casella has a board waiting for you.
Go become a legend.
