About

Your lesson, up on the board — the way teaching actually works. BlackboardView turns a plain text file into split cue cards: private teaching notes for you on one side, and a live blackboard on the other that projects full-screen to any external display while you teach. Only the blackboard is ever shown to the class. Your notes stay yours. No accounts. No subscriptions. No complexity. Just your lesson and your classroom. UP AND RUNNING IN THREE STEPS 1. Write your lesson as a simple text file. Separate cards with ---, split your private notes from the blackboard with >>>, add columns with >>, and mark spots to fill in live with ??. 2. Import it — or load the built-in sample to try it out. Connect over HDMI or AirPlay / Screen Mirroring and the blackboard projects automatically. 3. Teach with any remote. Tap the screen, use the on-screen arrows, press a presentation remote, or use the volume buttons on a Bluetooth shutter remote. BUILT FOR THE FRONT OF THE ROOM Private notes, live blackboard See Notes and Blackboard side by side, or toggle to either one alone. Only the blackboard ever projects — no notes, no clutter, no surprises. External display projection Connect over HDMI or AirPlay and the current card's blackboard fills the screen for the class. One mechanism covers both, using Apple's modern external-display support. Live hotspots Wherever your lesson has a hotspot, tap the "+" to write a new line on the spot — it appears instantly on your iPad and the projected board at the same time. Ad-hoc blackboards An unplanned example or a tangent question? Drop in a brand-new blank board with as many columns as you need, right where you are, in a couple of taps. Links open on both displays Put a web link in your notes — a video, an article. Tapping it shows the page on the projector for the class and on your iPad, so you can interact with it without leaving your session. Multi-column layout Up to three blackboard columns side by side, with any extras a scroll away — just like a real, wide classroom board. Bluetooth & presentation remote support Works with presentation remotes (arrow keys) and Bluetooth shutter remotes (volume buttons). No setup required. Save additions back to your file When your session ends, choose whether to write your live hotspot text and any new boards back into the original lesson file — ready to teach again next time. Light & dark mode Follows your system setting, or lock it to light or dark. The blackboard itself always stays true chalkboard dark, either way. ONE SIMPLE PRICE A one-time purchase. No subscription, no ads, no feature gating. Unlimited lessons and classes, and all future updates included. Made for teachers who want the board to keep up with them. Requires iPad running iOS 18 or later. An external display (HDMI adapter or AirPlay-compatible receiver) is recommended to get the most out of projection.
