Aurora Tracker: Your Honest Verdict for Tonight's Aurora
Aurora Tracker tells you in one sentence whether tonight is worth stepping outside for the northern or southern lights. No Kp charts, no jargon — just a plain-language verdict, a 0–100 visibility score, and the best viewing window for your exact location. Built for everyone from first-time chasers to seasoned photographers.
Main Offerings:
- Tonight's Verdict: A single-sentence answer — Go outside now, Worth a look, Maybe tonight, or Skip tonight — backed by a 0–100 visibility score that blends geomagnetic activity, cloud cover, darkness, and moonlight. The score is honest, so when conditions are zero, it says so. (Pro subscription required)
- Live Hemisphere Map: See the aurora oval in real time on a full-screen map of your hemisphere, with tonight and tomorrow's viewlines drawn in. Tap anywhere to read the local probability and the required activity for visibility at that exact spot. (Pro subscription required)
- Multi-Day Forecast: Plan your week with three forecast scales — the next 24 hours, the next 3 days, and a 27-day outlook calendar. Each chart marks sunset, astronomical darkness, and the official storm watches. (Pro subscription required)
- Saved Favorite Locations: Build a list of places you care about across both northern and southern hemispheres. Switch between them from the home screen and see the verdict for any saved spot at a glance. (Pro subscription required)
- Plain-Language Explanations: Tap the info icon next to any technical term — Kp, Bz, OVATION, magnetic latitude — and read a short, jargon-free explanation that does not assume a physics background. Every term in the app has one. (Pro subscription required)
- Privacy-First Design: No accounts, no notifications, no analytics, no tracking. Aurora Tracker never asks you to sign up or send permission prompts you do not need. (Pro subscription required)
Aurora Tracker is more than a weather widget for the sky. It combines official NOAA solar-wind and OVATION feeds with high-resolution cloud-cover and astronomical-darkness data to give you a verdict you can actually act on — and the honesty to say "skip tonight" when the science says skip.
Whether you are chasing the lights from your back porch in Alaska, planning a weekend in Yellowknife, photographing the aurora australis from Tasmania, or simply curious about what is happening above your city tonight — Aurora Tracker gives you one clear answer and the spatial and temporal context to plan around it.
