Most weather apps show you one forecast and never tell you whether it was right. Weather for Dads does the opposite.
We pull five independent forecasts for your exact spot: the Met Office, Apple, Norway's YR, Germany's DWD and Tomorrow.io. We blend them by each source's proven track record at each time horizon. Then we keep score in public: every day we check what each forecast said against what actually happened, and publish the results. When a source goes off the boil, the blend leans away from it automatically.
THE DAY AT A GLANCE
One picture and one graph show the whole day, 6am to 10pm. Drag along it to see any hour.
HOW MUCH RAIN, NOT JUST WHETHER
One mark for a shower, two for wet, three for a soaking. For the next hour it tells you when rain starts, when it gets heavy and when it stops.
WIND YOU CAN READ
Green when it's calm enough to hang the washing out, amber when it's windy, and gusts flagged.
THE WEEK IN PLAIN WORDS
Every day summed up: "Rain from ten", "Mow it, tongs out", "Coat weather".
NO GLASSES MODE
Big text, one tap, top right.
THE DAD VERDICTS
No decoding weather symbols. The forecast becomes plain answers to the questions that matter: is it BBQ weather? Can I mow? Beer in the garden? Dog walk without a soaking? Yes now, later today, or not today.
BOOTS ON THE GROUND
Tap Report, top left, and say whether it's light rain, rain or a downpour. Real dads report what's actually happening in their gardens. Rain reported upwind of you becomes a heads-up before it arrives, and every report is scored against the forecasts, making the app more honest for everyone.
NOTIFICATIONS THAT EARN THEIR PLACE
A morning report at your chosen hour: low, high, sky, rain chance, and the BBQ verdict. A weekend preview on Wednesday. Rain heading your way. Official weather warnings. And the week's winning dad joke on Sunday evening. Each one can be switched off, and none of them nag.
ONE DAD JOKE A DAY
A wet forecast goes down easier with a groan. Vote with pints, submit your own, and the week's winner is crowned on Sunday.
HONEST BY DESIGN
- No account, no sign-up, no email.
- Your location fetches your forecast; we never keep a history of where you've been.
- Our accuracy scores, including the times a single source beats our blend, are published at weatherfordads.com/accuracy.
Built by one dad who got rained on at a BBQ he was promised would stay dry.
