May you find a rainbow’s end and treasure found wherever you sail or set your anchor — this calculator helps you choose the right anchor and rode setup for any condition.
Rainbow’s End Anchoring works out how much rode to pay out from what actually matters — the depth under you, the height of your bow roller, the tide, the wind, and the holding ground — then picks the best anchor and rode combination from the gear you actually carry, and says plainly when something will not work.
• Scope measured from the bow roller down, not the depth sounder alone
• Recommends from your own anchors and rodes — and warns when the locker cannot support the plan
• Regular anchoring, Bahamian moor, Med mooring, and lines ashore
• Storm mode with a two-anchor plan
• Gusts raise the scope and the peak loads
• Honest chain catenary: know the wind at which your chain pulls straight
• Swing circle, under-keel clearance at low water, and the deepest water your rode can take tonight
• Multiple boats — your own, a charter, the dinghy
• Feet, meters, fathoms, shots, or your own rode marks
• Works entirely offline. No account. Your boat’s details never leave your phone.
Built with real seamanship and honest about its limits: every figure is an estimate, and your judgment always outranks the app.
