The same tiles for everyone, every day.
Ordveven is a word game where you weave tiles into one connected web. Words read across and down, like a crossword. Every day, every player gets the same tiles — so what you compare is your round, not your luck.
THREE RULES AND YOU ARE PLAYING
· Place the tiles so that everything hangs together in one web.
· Anything on the board can be moved while you think.
· Empty your hand before you lock in — that check scores double.
SWAP A LETTER
Stuck? You can swap a letter in your hand. The first swap costs 1 point, the next 2, and so on — but never more than you have.
THE DAILY ROUND
A new round every day, with 40 tiles. The daily round needs no account. Want a spot on the leaderboard? Sign in and pick a display name. Others see that name — never your e-mail address or the name on the account you sign in with.
DUELS
Play an opponent from the queue, or challenge a friend. Three time controls: blitz at five minutes, normal at ten, and no clock at all — each with its own Elo rating. Several duels can run at once, and a game carries on when you switch device.
NO TIMER THAT PUNISHES THINKING
If you want to play without a clock, you can. Ordveven is built to be pondered over.
LEADERBOARDS AND STATISTICS
The daily round has its own board. Duels have an Elo board per language and time control, split into seasons. Tap a name to open that player's card. Your statistics and your ranking are free for everyone.
FRIENDS
Add friends by friend code or QR, challenge them directly, send them messages, and see their Elo ratings.
CHAT ON YOUR TERMS
Inside a duel you can send fixed phrases such as "Good luck!" — those are open to everyone. Free text is off by default and opens only once both players have turned it on. The same rules apply to messages between friends. You can report a conversation and block someone at any time.
THREE LANGUAGES
Nynorsk, Bokmål and English. Nynorsk words are checked against Nynorskordboka (Norsk ordbank: Språkbanken/the National Library of Norway, the University of Bergen and the Language Council of Norway, CC-BY 4.0), Bokmål words against NSF25 from the Norwegian Scrabble Federation (Norsk Scrabbleforbund), and English words against the ENABLE, SCOWL, ESDB and Wiktionary word lists.
NOTIFICATIONS WHEN IT IS YOUR TURN
Turn on notifications and you will not have to open the app to find out whether your opponent has played.
ADS AND ORDVEVEN PREMIUM
Ordveven is free. The app can show ads: an ad when a round or a duel is over — never on the board while you play. In your first week you see no ads at all. If you have said you are under 13, you see no ads.
Ordveven Premium is a one-time purchase that removes the ads and lets you have up to 50 duels going at once instead of 3. You can also choose the Premium icon for the app on your home screen. That is all it does: the statistics, the rankings and the game itself are the same for everyone, and Premium never buys points, words, time or easier opponents. You need to be signed in to buy.
