FrameSpec is a mat and frame calculator for collectors, artists, photographers, and design buyers who want clear cut dimensions before ordering a frame, mat, glass, or backing board.
Enter artwork size, reveal, weighted mat borders, moulding width, fit allowance, and sheet size. FrameSpec calculates the window opening, mat outside, outer frame, glass and backing cut, moulding allowance, sheet yield, offcut, and a standard-frame fit when one works.
Use FrameSpec before contacting a framer, ordering a custom frame online, cutting mat board, or preparing a bench note for a print, photograph, textile, document, or collected artwork.
Features:
- Window opening from artwork size and overlap
- Weighted left, right, top, and bottom mat borders
- Mat outside and finished outer-frame dimensions
- Glass and backing cut dimensions
- Moulding allowance with trimming waste
- Sheet yield and offcut estimate
- Standard-frame fit suggestion
- Copy/share spec brief
- Local persistence on device
- No account, backend, tracking, ads, or subscription
FrameSpec is a calculator only. Always verify rabbet depth, material thickness, backing requirements, glazing requirements, and framer tolerances before ordering or cutting materials.
